A RESOLUTION OF THE CHOY OF LONGWOOD,
FLORIDA, SUPPORTING AND ENCOURAGING
THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO
LEVY AN ADDITIONAL ONE CENT OF LOCAL
GAS TAX TO FULLY FUND THE "A
PARATRANSIT SERVICE IN SE UNOLE COUNTY,
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, LYNX, the Central Florida Regional Tmnsporlmion Authority, is

the Community Transpor i- Coordinator since 1992 by the Sta t Commission for the
Tremportatioa Disadvamaged; and
WHEREAS, LYNX provides doorto-door van paratransit to . Wled
ACCESS LYNX for medically goalif, d, physically challenged customers through its
arced mrtier, MV Tmnspw tion and that avrently the County and Cities pay
LYNX for providing pmatransit trips w those eligible individuals who in their
jurisdimioa qualify for the van paratransit service specified by the American Disabilities
An (ADA); and
WHEREAS, approximately 35,ON ADA paratransit trips are projected to occur
_ty-wide la Seminole Camny iv Fiscal Year 2MVOA, of which 2232 are projected to
occur m the City oI`L ov Ndd, and
WHEREAS, the Cities ad Seminole County Govemmem have —Mad in the
past in allotting the "9'a Cent LOcal Option Oas Tax' to be [Minted 10 the payment of
operating expenses for LYNX transit services; and
WHEREAS, the revenues for the 0's Cent Lom1 Option Gas Tax have m covered
the entire cost of fixed bus roure services, ADA paratraysit services and membership in
the rgiO,tal o-ansponation authority Por a number of yews, Nus req.iH g supplemental
funding Rom the Cities and the County; and
WHEREAS, additional re vs needed to ensure that pmatmmit servces ifor those residents ofSeminole County qualifying for ADA pamrcansit
