A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LONG WOOD, FLORIDA,
REAFFIRMING SUPPORTING THE CSX CORRIDOR AS
THE YRERERRED ALIGNMENT FOR THE LYNX CENTRAL
FLORIDA LICHT RAIL TRANSIT SYSTEM PROGRAM;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICT; AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE
W HERFAS, the City of Longwood believes rha[ for the LYNX LigFrt Ral
Transit System to be su essful in ring ridership, it only fwclion to
transport and fiom wotrk but t also enthe residential
neighborhoods and wmmumnes that predominate along the CSX cortidor, artd
W HERFAS, rho selection of the Ligln Rail tecMology was purposefully done
ro provide a rail technology that is compatible with serving the existing business and
ruidential cnmmunities along the CSX wrridor.
NOW, TNERF,FORE, BF. IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of
the City of Longwood, Florida, as follows:
SECTION I. That the City Comnussion ofi,ongwood supports the
deaignetwn ofthe general CSX coaidoe north ofdowmown Orlando ee the prefrrted
alignment for the LYNX Centre) Florida Light Rail System N order to achieve [he full
benefits of light rail technology rand to support the mccessful operation of Gght rail by
pen ring the commercial and residential neighborhoods that exisr along the CSX
enrdaar.
SECTION 2. That the City Co~mriission of Longwood desires the L3TX
Cenlml Florida Light Rail System give due ooissidemtion to [he concerns of the
residents and businesses in the City wNe6 will be impacted by the tight mil system.
$ECTION 3. That the LYNX Bomd give eoasiduation to constructing a
replica of. or a structure s'unilar to. the original Longwood depot at the LYNX
Central Florida Light Rail Longwood ste~ion.
SECTION ~. All resolutiorrs or parts thereof of the Governing BodyN
conflict with the provisions crootained in this resolution aye, ~o the extent/ of such
contiu_ Hereby superseded and repealed.
