STOPS A REQUESTS F SAFETY BUSING As IT RELATES TO
SAFETY, NPROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
wHEREAS, children throughout Seminole County atte
public high schools, middle schools and elementary schools; and
NHEREAS, there is a need for the Seminole County schc
District Lo provide bus lny Cor many of these students; end
!NHEREAS, 11 governmental entities in Seminole County
desire to work towards an p tic ipate to that end including the
recommendation of safety busing solely based on safety concerns as
t.i tied "hazardous wa lk inq cond ieions" in Florida Statutes 234.0 ,
encouraged to establish an inee rgovernmental safety committee to be
charged wiTh, among other things, the evaluation of the safety of
bus stops Chat serve students attending public high ech ool.s, middle
schools and elementary schools in Seminole County. This commitiee
shall also review safety concerns raised by officials, parents or
other citizens regarding us Bout private tsanspor tatton of
st uden nd student pedestrian sz lety in order that appropriate
recommendatlo no may bo matlo to the Seminole County Sohool Boerd.
3. The committee shall be composed of Public safety
Offitia transportation experts, or other appropriate
representatives from all Seminole County governmental
jurisdictions. There shall be one representative appointed by each

~ municipality, the semino to county sheriff's Department, the
B em mole County Board of County Commissioners, and the Seminole
County School Board. Tne latter shall be de tg ted the
coordinating agency.
4. The results antl recommendations of said committee
shall then be forwarded to the appropriate municipality, the
Seminole County sheriff's Department, the Seminole County Board of
County Commissione nd the Seminole County School Board. The
latter snail review the findings ana recommendations of the Safety
Committee and take appropriate action.
5. A copy of [his Resolution shall be forwarded to the

chief executive officer of each jurisdiction to be represented on
cne committee for immea late cons iaeracion ana aaoption no later

enall be immea late ly forwarded to the chairman of the seminole
Lounty School Board.
6. Tne Seminole County School Board shall implement the
intent of this Resolution by corresponainq Ieq illation no later
than January 1, 1991.
