F STATE, R EADEOF HISTORIC PRESERVATION ANDAGRANTS-
IN-AID PROGRAMS
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Longwood,
Florida, finds preservation of historic and archeological
resources enhances Our cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission Of the City of Longwood,
Florida, is aware that the Federal Government has reduced its
funding available it state and locai governments for historic
preservation programs; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Longwood,
Florida, finds that Such reduced funding will harm the City's
efforts to revitalize the City's local Hr..torrc District, and
WHEREAS, the City of Longwood, Florida, has applied for
a federal grant project which has been directly affected by the
lack of sufficient federal and state Funding for historic
NOW, THEREFORE, HE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, THAT:
1. The State Legislature is hereby requested to loci
state funding for the Florida Department of State, Eureau of
transmit a copy of this proclamation to the appropriate Florida
legislators to petition their support for increased state funding
for the Bureau of Historic Preservation and Grants -In -Aid Programs.
3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately
upon passage and adoption.
