Resolution 87-602RESOLUTION NO. 602 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF GWOOD, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE SWAP OF STATE OWNED MUCK PARMLANOS IN THE EVERGLADES FORC M KLANDS AROUNDL E APGPKA AND APOPKA-BEAUCLAIRCANAL; TO SELB LAKE APOPTA BY PROVIDING A BENEFICIAL AQUATIC ENVIRONMENT FOR THC SPAWNING OF FISH AND TO FLUSH OUT POLLUTANTS WHEREAS, the 1985 LOgisl.ature recognized the i po,ta of instituting an ambitious and creative restorati.0 program for Lake Apopka; and BEEREAS, the City Commission of the City e£ Longwood, Florida, supports the Like Apopka Restoration Project; WHEREAS, the Longwood City Commission s pp is the proposed land swap end the plans of the St. SOE— Raver Water Management District would Create a large marsh zone wh—T beneficial aquatic plants Can grow and provide spawning and breeding areas for sport fish, a„ well as other benefits to the lake including acting s a "kidney for Lake Apopka" by flushing out pollutants.
