Resolution 85-532A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY OF LONGWOOO, FLORIDA,
ENCOURAGING CABLEVISION OF CENTRAL FLORIDA,
CHANNEL A TO AIR THE FLORIDA LEAGUE OF CITIES
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT ON DRUNK OR IVING
WHEREAS, drinking and driving is one of the most critical
social dilemmas facing America today;
WHEREAS, driving fatalities relating to alcohol have escalated
to an all time high and involve thousands of victims each year;
WHEREAS, uring 1963 in Florida alone, over 2,729 people were killed
by drunk drivers;
WHEREAS, the Florida League of Cities and the City of Longwood shares
the national concern about drinking and driving and recognizes the significant
impact that the problem carries in the mun lci pall [i es of our State;
WHEREAS, the Florida Cable Television Association and the Florida
League of Cities are making a statement against drunk driving through a video
Public Service Announcement;
WHEREAS, the Public Service Announcement has been distributed to all
network and indepentlent television stations in Florid,
WHEREAS, all cable systems throughout the state with local advertising
capabilities have rece]ved a copy of the Public Service Announcement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Comm ssi on of the City of Longwood, Florida,
hereby requests that Lablevision of Central Florida, Channel A, air this Florida
Oriented Public Service Announcement as broadcast time allows:
