~JHEREAB, the City of Longwood, Florida was or9 ina11y
incorporated by the State of Florida on the 23rd Day of May, 1923
and has since grown to a present estimated population of 10,609
people; and
WHERE , the City of Longwood is hard p erred to meet
the e Penses involved in park development for its e nandi ng
population, and therefore, rs anxious to seek State assistance in
the development of its Reiter Park Project; and
IsHEREAE, the Florida Recreation Development Assistance
Program provides grant monies of (6fi 2/3 or 33 1/3) percent of
project cost under the State administered program for local govezn- 1
men is qualifying for said assistance fo.r park recreation,
NO TH£REFOAE, BE IT RE EOLVED BY TFIE CITY OF LONGh'OOD OF
THE STATE Oe FLORIDA, that:
Eect'on 1. The City o£ Longwood will proceed to make
improvements at its Reiter Park sits, not to exceed the estimated
cost of 525,000. Should the State find Longwood eligible for a
grant for such i vements to its Aer ter Park site under the Florida
Recreation Development Assistance Program, the City has the £inanci al
c paci ty and authority to appropriate funds for the grant match and
is commz tted to complying with all matching grant requirements. 1,
ection 2. The city of Longwood is hereby authorized to
execute such further and additional papecs, apPlicati ons and explanatory
material as may be requested to complete the application and to enter
into required agreements to secure designated funds for the Aeiter
Park .,rte project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall become
effective upon its adoption.
