A RF.SOLUT ION OF THE CITY OF LONGIV00D, FLORIDA, SETTING
FORTH THE POLICY OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD PERTAINING TO
THF; FUTURF. PAVING OF STREE'T'S AND THE APPORT ION~IENT OF
PAYMENTS FOR PAVINf, OF STREETS.
It'IIEREAS, Chapter 1'10, Florida Statutes, provides for meThods
of making local muni pal improvements such as the paving of streets and
providing for the assessment of the cost of such improvements against
property deemed to be benefited by such local improvements; and
P'iIE REAS, is is the intention of the City Commission of the
City o{ Longwood to adopt a uniform policy pertaining to the portion of
the assessment for the paving o£ streets to be p ved by the property 1
owners and the portion of the assessment to ba paid by tho City o{
Longwood; and
IVHE REAS, it zs recognized that ce rt am st teats 1n the CiTy of
Longwood are either local, being defined ac a street designed and main-
taaned primarily to provide access to abutting property, or a streex is
arterial, being defined as a street of x higher classification than a
Ioc al streex used primarily for tra££ic traveling a considerable distance,
and used primarily as a marn traffic artery. A collector street includes
a11. roads and streets vahich link arterial roads Ia ith local streets.
NOit', THEREFORE, BE IT AESOLVEO BY THE CITY CO~PII SSION OF THE 1
CITY OF LONGIV00D AS FOLLOIVS:
1. That £rom time to timo the City Commission of the C1xy of
Longwood will designate certain streets for paving as either arterial
streets or collector streets. After such a designation is made, ix as
the policy of the City to proceed under Chapter 1]0, Florida Statutes,
to assess each aub tt ivg property ov~ner twenty-five percent (258] of the
cast of paving such an arterial or collector stre and it will be tho
policy of the City of Longwood xp Pay Fifty percent (508) o£ the cost of
paving.
