WHEREAS, the State of Florida Uepartme nt o£ Adminis-
tration, Dav>slon of State Flanninq, Bureau of Crrmrnal Justice
Planning and Assistance, has issued a Policy Statement for
imp lementi.nq Preliminary Report on Standard coals" on August 29,
recommends the abolis3unent of all police agencies with fewer than
ten (10) sworn employees, the total consolidation of local
go veremient services, including mergers, the total consolidation
of police services, regional consolidation, the regionalization
of specific police services, met ropolitanization, and more, and
wHE REAS, such proposals are neither necessary nor
desirable and would in fact weaken all governmental sex vices and
and Assistance has for over three (3) years been approving grants
of money to strengthen the very small town police forces it now
wishes to abolish, thereby squanderi nq such investments to date,
',, WtIF,REAS, there is no demand for any such merger, con-
so li da tion or abolition on t e part of those citizens re ce ruing
uch servrces, and
WHCREAS, such policies are inimicable and contrary to
e best interests of freely elected local government.
