A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA
REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
AND THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
SEMINOLE COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO MODIFY THE
TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNALS AT THE INTERSECTION
OF S.R. 15-600 (U.S. 17-92) AND S.R. 434
BY INSTALLATION OF LEFT TARN SIGNALS.
WHEREAS, the traffic on S.R. 15-600 (U.S. 17-92) and
S.R. 434 continues to increase daily; and
WHEREAS, the intersectron of S.R. 15-600 (U.S. 17-92)
and S.R. 434 is congested and Left tums are restricted to
such an extent that it is hazardous to negotiate same, and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the
City of Longwood, Florida, that a hazardous condition exists
because of the lack of left turn signals; and
WHEREAS, it rs deemed appropriate that the existing
traffic signals located at the intersectron of S.R. 15-600
(U.S. 17-92) and S.R. 434 be modified by the addition of left
turn signals; aad
WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that Secondary Road
Funds be used to modify traffic control devices providing left
turn sigaa ls,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
I. That the Board of County Commis ionexs of Seminole
County, Florida, join with the City of Longwood, Florida, in
reconmending modification of traffic Control _signals at the
intersectron of S.R. 15-600 (U.S. 17-92) and S.R. 434, eo the
Department of Transportation of the State of Florida, and that
a permit be issued for said modification.
2. That the Board of County Commissioners of Seminole^
County, Florida, adopt an appropriate Res. iution containing the
£o Mowing matters:
(a) Requesting the Department of Transportation
of the State of Florida to make a traffic survey of the inter-
s ec tiou of S.R. 15-600 (O,S. 17-92) and S.R, 434, in the City
of Longwood, Seminole County, Florida.
(b) That a permit be i_... d For modification of
a traffic signal at the inte rs ec eiou of S.R. 15-600 (U.S. 17-92)
and S.R. 434, City of Longwood, Seminole County, Florida,
authorizing modification by the installation of left turn
signals.
(c) That the cost of equipment and installation
be paid one hundred percent (100%) From Seminole County Sec and ar
Road Funds.
(d) That the Seminole County Board of County
Commi-l—ars wi 11 agree to operate and maintain said s.i.gnIT
If— modification out of local County funds.
(e) That no significant changes to the signal
operation including timing will be made prior to the Department
of Transportation .f the State of Florida's approval.
3. That the Board of County Commissioners of Seminole
County, Florida, forward five (5) signed and sealed copies of
said Resolution, as adopted t. the said Department of Trans-
portation of the State of Florida.
4. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to
the Department of Transportation of the State of Florida, the
