CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 69-69, LAWS OF FLORIDA 1969; AUfHGRIZING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND OTHER MUNI CIPAI.ITIES CREATING A LOCAL COUNCIL OF MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTS TO BE ANOWN AS CALNO COUNCIL OF GOVF.'RNMENTS: PROVIDING EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the several local municipal governments o£ South Seminole County form one regional. community, with their Citizenry cl os elY bound eo gether physically, socially and economically, and with services by not one single unit of local government but ind epend entLy by the several municipal governmen s, and WHEAEAS, Chapt ex 69 -69, Laws of Florida, authorizes the creation o£ voLunta ry Councils of local public officials and governmen es and provides for membership, powers and the administration of such Councils; and WHEREAS, by Resolution other municipalities within Seminole County are likewise dec Loring eheir intention to organize and join the CALNO Council of Governments; and WHEREAS, the expansion of the concept of cooperation among Local municipal. governments while reeaining l.o cal home rule, is the best immediate solution for dealing with regional challenges beyond Individual municipal governmental capabil icies~ and WHEREAS, notwithstanding any language herein, it Ls the in teneion of all parties as defined herein to organize a Council of local municipal public offic inls based on cooper- ation and to seek, through msstssal agreement, solutions to xhe mutual challenges of growth and otherwise £or ehe benefit of all citize and r WHEREAS, CALNO Council of Governments shall provide ehe City o£ Longwood, Florida, an opportunity to part is ipaee with other Iocal municipal gnvernmen is in defined areas o£ Seminole County to resolve problems, and develop policies and plans that are common and regional in natu , NOW, THEREFORE, BE LT RESOLVED BY THE CLTY CO[INCIL OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That in consideration of ocher governmental unies agreeing to join the CALNO Council of Govermnen es the City of Longwood hereby agrees: 1) That there shall be Formed ehe CAI,NO Council o£ Covernmen is which sha1L be financed, organized and shall operate and may be dissolved in accordance wieh the provisions o£ [he bylaws of said Council. 2) That the effective date of/~the formation of the CALNO Council of Governments shall be~ and ie shall remain in effect fox an inieial eexm of one year from formation date.
