AN ORDD1`ANCE OF THE CITY OF LONCWOOD,
FLORIDA, AMENDING CRAFTER ~, ELECTTONS,
SECTION'/-5 (a); PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS,
SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has deterznined it is necessary to change the
qualifying period for an elector to become qualified to run in city elections; and
WREREAS, the City Commission believes this change woWd serve in the best
mteren ofthe electors who choose to run; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission balievos this change will provide for a smooth
adminiso-ation oPthe city's elections process;
NOW, TRERFORE, BE TT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMhI1551ON OF
THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA as follows:
SECTON I. That [he Code ofOrdinances be amended by revising Secion
~-5 (a) in Chapter ], Elections, to read as fbllowe.
Section'/-5. Candidate qualifying procedures.
(a) Any eleoor, vthervnse duly qualifed pursuant to state law end the City
Charter, may become a candidate for the office of City Commissioner by fling en
application with the City Clerk not later than sixtyseven (6'n daye prior to any election
nor earlier Nan seventy-frm ('Iq) days prior to any elecion.
SECTION D. CONFLICTS. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict with any of the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
