wHER the exclusive franchise agreement with
Industrial Waste servrc ne. for the collection of commercial
solid waste in the City of Longwood will expire on November 1,
1993; and
WHEREAS, the individual non-exclusive franchise
agreements have not yet been adopted and to insure the health,
safety and welfare of the citizens of Longwood, it is imperative
that the collection of solid waste be continued; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 901 provides for the extension of
the Exclusive eranchise with Industrial Waste Services, Fn for
the collection of commercial solid waste in the City o{ Longwood;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Commission of
the City of Longwood, Florida, that the City Commission determines
that the subject matter of this ordinance is an emergency antl must
be adopted immediately without the formalities of two readings and
an atlvert isement, and there ore, the following ordinance is hereby
adopted as follows:
SECTION 1: That Ordinance No. 901, granting an exclusive
Franchise to Industrial Waste Services, Inc. for the collection of
Commercial solid Waste in the City of Longwood, Florida, is hereby
authorized to be extended for sixty (60~ days Following the
effective date of this ordinance.
sECTION 2: Conflicts. All ortlinances or parts thereof in
conflict herewith, be and the s re hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: Severabil ity. should any section, paragraph,
clause, sentence, item, word, o p vision of this Ordinance be
declared vnvalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, such
decision shall not affect the validity of this Ordinance as a whole
or any part thereof, not so declared to be invalid.
