Double Check Valve Assembly - means an assembly composed of two single. indepent ently acting check valves. including tightly closing shutoff valves located at each end of the assembly and suvtable connectvons for testing the watertiryhtness of each check valve. Redve ed Pressure Pr rncipie Backf low Pr event ion De voce - means a device tncotpo[ating two or more check valves and and autematac ally operating differential relive valve located between the two check valves, two shutoff valves, and equiped with the necessary appucten antes for testing. Sectvon 5 - The Department of Public works Collection and Dzsteibvtion Dvvvsven of the City of Longwoo3, shall in cooperation with H.R.S. and/or the Bvildinq Inspection Department of the City of Longwood, make periodic vnspections of pr emvses served by the water supply to check for the presence of cross-connectvons. Any cross-connectvons found in such inspection shall be or deeed removed by the Department o£ Public Works of tfie City of Longwood. if an vmmediate hazard to health as caused by the cross-<onnectvon, water service to the pr emvses shall be discontinued until vt vs verified that the cx ass-connectvon fias been removed. seeevon 6 - eack£low pzevention devices shall be installed at the servvice connectvon or within any premises where in the ivdgeme nt o£ ehe Department of Public Works Col tec[ions and Distribution Dv vv svon of [he City of Longwood the nature and extent of the actvvaties on the premises, oz the materv als used in connecivon with tfie actvvvtves or materials stored in the px emvses would present an vmmediate and ding emus hazard co health, should a cross connecc.on occur, even enovgn such cross-connecm on apes not ex;st at the t.me the backf low prevention device is req viied to be installed. A backflow prevention device will be approved if is has successfully passed pe[£ormance test of the Dni ve[sity of sou[he[n California Engineering center or other testing labo[ator ies satisfactory to the Department e£ eublic works of the Cicy of Longwood. sectaon 13- eackf low prevention devices shall be annually inspected and tested by the cotlecti ons and Distribution Davi soon of the City of Longwood at the customer s expense. The devices shall be repaieed. oveeh aided, or replaced by the Collections and Oist ribu[ion Da vision at the customer s expense whenever they aze found [o be def e<tive. Inspections. test and repairs, and records shall be per£or med by the Collections and Distribution Ovvasvon of the City of Longwood at the customer s expense. Section 14- Failure of the customee [o cooperate in the installation, may nt en once, testing o[ vnspectien of bat kf low prevention devices eequired an this sectvon shall be grounds for the Ce[mvnatvon of water service to Che prem. sex. Section IS- it shall be the duty of the Supertintendent o£ the Collections and Di stribvt ion Division of the Ci<y of Longwood to enf ox ce this ordinance. it to assvst the svpertintendent by reporting. to Aim. seeming violations. section 16- In case any consumer uses a water system in violation of the ordinance. any proper officials of the Department of Public works. ox their 3uly oath orizea repr esen[ives. vn addition to other remedies, may inst vt ate any appropriate action or proceedings to prevent such unlawful use, or other violations, to xestr avn, correct or abate such violations.
