41HEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Longwood
Ss alarmed with the increased possibility of individuals carrying
Fi[earms or Weapons within Municipal Buildings oc upon Municipal
Property; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Longwood is
concerned with the public peace and good oc der and to saf eguaed the
healtn, safety, and wel face of the community and the citizens
/" thereof, especially within Municipal Buildings o[ upon Municipal `_
Property; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Longwood deems
it necessary to address this matter as an em ecgency;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDA SN ED AS FOLLW]S:
SECTION ONE Definitions. The following words and
phrases, when used in the Ordinance, shall, for the puepos es of this
ordinance, have the meanings respe ctcvely ascribed to them in this
except wnere the context otherwise requires:
(Al 'Firearm" means weapon (including a starter qunl

(C) Weapon" means any dirk, metallic knuckles, sl ungshot,
Billie, tear gas gun, chemical weapon or device, or other deadly
weapon except a Eirearm or a common pocketknife.
SECTION 2: It sb all be unlawful far any person to carry o[
possess any firearm or weapon within any Municipal Building or upon
any Municipal Property, or to cause any firearm or weapon to be
brought within any Municipal Building o[ upon any Municipal Property.
SECTION 3. Law Enf oecement officers shall be exempt from
the provisions of to is ordinance.
SECTION 4: Any violation of this ordinance may be
punishable by a fine, not exceeding Five Hundred Doi Lars (5500.00),
oc impc is onment for a term not exceeding Six (6I months or both.
SECTION 5: All ordinances oc parts of ordinances rn
conflict herewith, be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6: if any sect ron or portion of a section of this
oc di na nce proves to be invalid, unlawful or unco nstrtut ronal, it
shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity, force or ef-
fect of any other section of this ordinance.
SECTION >: This ordinance shall. become effective
immediately upon final passage and adoption.
