wHEREas, the city commraaron has aeterminea that ~c rs
necessary to remove the monthly public, secure Lax maxvmum charge
of 55.00 £or all residential customers for servvtes rendered by
certarn utvlvtves, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that it rs
necessary and desirable to exempt the first 300 kilowatt hours of
electricity from any utility tar for residential customers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED HY THE CITY COPNiIS SIGN OF THE

That Section 21-16 of the Code of Ordinances rs hereby
revrsed to read as follows:
"Sec. 21-16. Levy. There is hereby imposed and levied by
the city a tax upon each and every purchase of electeicity, metered
or bottled g s (natural, Siquef:ed or manufactured), water sexv'rce,
telephone servvice and telegraph sexvrce with.i.n the city in the amount
of ten 110) percent of each payee nt received by the seller of such
utility servvice o.r commodity; which tax sha 1.1. De paid by the purchaser
to the sealer, for the use of the city, at the tome of paying the
charge thereafter, but not less often than monthly; provided, however,
that the first three hundred 13001 kilowatt hours of electricity shall
be exempt from said utility tax for eesadentval customers.
5&CTION 2

be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3:
If any sec Iron or a portion of this ordinance proves to be
invalvd, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to
invalidate or impair the validity, force oe effect of any other
sertvon of this ozd finance.
SECTION 9
This ordinance shall take effect rmmedr ately upon adoptvon.
