WHEREAS, the Li ty Lommi scion of the City of Lon9wootl, Florida,
has determined that a Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is tlesi rable
to assist the members of the City Commission and the Director of the
Parks and Recreation Department in planning for present and future parks
and recreational needs of Che ci tiiens Gf Longwood;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE [i ORDAI NEO 6Y THE CITY COMMISSION pF THE CI TV
OF LONGWDOD, FLOR [DA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Title. This ordinance shall be known and cited as the

SECTION 2: Parks and Recreation Advisor Boa rtl created; membershi terms.
there is hereby created a Parks and Recreation Atlvi spry Board of the
Li ty of Longwood, flori da, which shall consist of five (5) members to be appointed
one each from the five commission districts and approved by the City Commission.
All members of the Board shall be residents of the City and shall serve without
compensation.
The initial appointments to the Parks and Recreation Atlvi spry Board shall
be as follows:
One (1) members shall serve one (I) year.
Two (2) members shall serve two (2) years. _`
Two (2) members shall serve three (3) years.
Thereafter, each member shall be appoi ntetl fora period of three (3J years.
Members of [he Parks and Recreation Advisory Boa rtl may be removed from
office by the City Commission for cause upon written charges and after public
hearing. Any member who fails to attend two (2) Consecutive meetings Of the
Board without cause and without prior approval of the chairman shall automatically
forfeit his appointment and the Li ty Lonmi scion shall promptly fill such vac ncy.
At the first meeting of the Parks and Aec rea Lion Advisory Board, members of the
Board shall elect a chairman and a vice-chaff nnan to presi tle in the absence of the
chairman. The presence of three (3) or more members shall constitute a quorum. ~1

TM1e Parks and Recreation Advisory Board shall meet every other month on a
day and time to be determined by the board.
^. Special meetings ray be held at the call of the Chairman.
SECTION 3: dart sdi ction. The Parks and Recreation Advisory board shall
assist in the development of plans to meet the present and future parks and
recreational needs of the City of tongwopd. The Parks and Recreation Advisory
Board shall recommend to the City Commission, prog ra ns, facility regoi cements,
parks utilization, beautification proposals and srmi li ar recommentlati ons to
provt tle the C1 ty with mnti nual ly upda Ced perks, recreation and leisure and
recreation program. The Board, may, after conferring with tM1e City Administrator,
make recomendati on to the City Conmi ssion on budget and staffi n9 needs. The Board
may request the presence of representatives of the various Li ty department at any
r,~ of its meetings through the City Administrator. the Board shall revs en, coimnent
and recommeM to the City LDIIY111 ssion on all issues relative to recreation, parks
and land acquisition or tli sposal. The Parks and Recreation Atlvi spry Board shall
adopt rules and regulations governing the procedures for election of officers,
time and place of meetings, agendas, etc.
SECTION 4: All ortli na nces or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
be and the sam e hereby repealed.
SECT [DN 5: This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its

ARTICLE V SLECTSON OF OFFICERS
A. Nomination of offices shall be made from the
membe[ship at the a ual organizational meeting to be held

shall be decl aced elected and shall take office.
Vacancies in office shall be designated by the Chairperson.
