PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD COMMISSION CHAMBERS 175 VILEST WARREN AVENUE LONGWOOD, FLORIDA FEBRUARY 4, 2003 MINUTES PRESENT: Mike Holt, Chair Ted Daugherty, Member Rex Anderson, Member Chuck Gilmore, Member Kim Pflug, Member JoAnne Rebello, Member Leslie Walsh, Recreation Program Coordinator Lorraine Forrest, Recording Secretary Marilyn Pardo (Temporary Programs Coordinator while Ms. Walsh is on maternity leave. ABSENT: Gerald O'Keefe, Vice Chair 1. CALL TO ORDER. Ms. Walsh introduced Mls. Pardo to all before meeting started. Mr. Holt called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 2. OLD BUSINESS. Mr. Holt asked for approval of the January 7, 2003 minutes. MSc (Daugherty/Pflug) to approve the January 7, 2003 minutes. Motion passed 5-0-1 with Vice Chair O'Keefe absent. Mr. Holt turned the meeting over to Ms. Walsh. She informed everyone that everything for the Easter Event was going according to schedule. Ms. Walsh said the Girl Scouts and Police Explorers would be on hand to help where needed. She asked if anyone knew someone that would like to help at the event, they would be welcomed to come and join in. She said a flyer would be sent out in the water bill at the end of March, and added it would also be advertised in the Orlando Sentinel, the Seminole Herald, and flyers would also be sent to the schools. Ms. Walsh said it Parks & Rec. Minutes February 4, 2003 Page 2 would be a short day, only from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or 11:30. a.m., but a fun day. Ms. Walsh decided to eliminate the goody bags and just give out prizes at each of the tables. Ms. Walsh stated that $50,000.00 was allotted for Candyland playground equipment and it should be installed by March before the Easter Event. She said after the Master Plan comes into effect, the equipment would be moved because that is where the ball fields will be located. Ms. Walsh said generic blue shirts were ordered for all staff members so they can wear them at all events. 3. NEW BUSINESS. Mr. Gilmore asked what was happening with Reider Park. Ms. Walsh said information would be forthcoming in either March or April, if it's funded. AM She said Reider Park would go into 2003-2004 budget with the matching grant, so the construction would start after October 1, 2003. Discussion ensued about where the teams would play and who was allowed to play where. 4. ADJOURNMENT, Mr. Holt adjourned the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Lorraine Forrest, Recording Secretary
