A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE
CITY OF LONGWOOD'S PARTICIPATION IN THE 28TH
ANNUAL NATIONAL NIGHT OUT; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.,
WHEREAS, National Night Out is a unique crime and drug prevention event
sponsored across the United States by the National Association of Town Watch, and,
WHEREAS, National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug
prevention awareness; generate support for and participation in local anticrime programs;
strengthen neighborhood spirit and police -community partnerships; and send a message
to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back;
and,
WHEREAS, National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and
enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police -community partnerships; and,
WHEREAS, the 28"' Annual National Night Out event is scheduled for August 2, 2011
and the City of Longwood has a long tradition of participation in National Night Out,
NOW, THEREFORE, DE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of
Longwood, Florida as follows:
SECTION 1: The City Commission supports the City of Longwood's participation in
National Night Out.
SECTION II: Conflicts. Any resolutions or policies in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
SECTION III: This resolution shall become etTective immediately upon adoption.
PASSED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, IN REGULAR
SESSION this I Y day of I A.D. 2011.
