1. CALL TO ORDER. Chair Rice called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES— December 6, 2011.
Chair Rice moved to approve Minutes of the December 6, 2011 Meeting. Seconded by
Member Trauger and carried by a unanimous roll call vote with Member Putz absent.
2. PUBLIC INPUT. None.
3. STAFF REPORT.
.Ms. Meli reported the following for the Staff Report:
Longwood Elementary School— All of our current programs have been moved to Longwood
Elementary School.
The City of Longwood and .Meals on Wheels will be providing a Senior Program at Longwood
Elementary School beginning in mid -to -late March.

Downtown Longwood Cruise -In — Second Saturday of the month, February 11' from 4:00 p.m.
until 7:00 p.m. on Church .Avenue.
Skate Park — The Skate Park is currently open. The official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be
held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 12 noon.
Caring Hearts Fun Run, 5K — Saturday, February 1 I "', Reiter Park. Race begins at 7:30 a.m.
Community event to follow.
Senior Matinee — Third Wednesday of the month, February 15' at 1:30p.m. in the Commission
Chambers. Showing "Contagion ".
City of Longwood is in the process of making signs for all the parks with rules and "No :Dogs
Allowed ".
Couponing Class- February 18, 2012 10:00 a.m. at Longwood Elementary School.
Chair Rice asked if the City of Longwood could create a Longwood Elementary School calendar
on the website. Ms. Meli replied that staff has an internal calendar currently, she will check with
our IT Division to see if a calendar can be created for the City of Longwood website.
Chair Rice asked if the car show for February 2012 has a sponsor. Ms. Meli replied they have
door prizes and they always do a 50/50 draw.
Vice Chair Bright volunteered her husband to take pictures for the Skate Park Grand Opening
event.
Member Coad asked if the media had been notified about the skate park opening. Ms. Meli
replied the Orlando Sentinel, news reporter from Channel 9 and Lake i11Iary Life was notified.
Ms. Meli would like to sell banner space to go up on the Candyland Park exterior fence for
sponsorship geared towards skaters and bikers.
Chair Rice asked about lighting for the Skate Park. Ms. Meli said lighting will be installed soon.
The City owns the lights already, and we only have to pay labor to have the fixtures put up.
Member Putz arrived at this point of the meeting.
4. ACTIONS ITEMS.
A. DISCUSS SPECIAL, EVENT BUDGET PREPERATIONS.
I.Easter Event: Advertising /Marketing, Eggs, Prizes, Candy, Inflatables,
Banners
2.National Night Out: Location will be at Candyland Parr. Inflatables,
Community Relations to include food, ponyies, band, and printing
3. Cruise -In: Monthly for disk jockey (D.) and Lights
Member Shoemaker left at this point of the meeting.
Vice Chair Bright moved to have the rest of Special Events moved t:o the March 2012
Meeting. Seconded by Men iber Putz.

Chair Rice asked if the City of Longwood is planning on doing a Cruise -Iii all twelve (12)
months. Ms. Meli responded in the affirmative.
Ms. Meli explained what the City does for programs currently. The City of Longwood
contracts out all our prograrns with an 80/20 split.
Ms. Meli read the list of needs for Meals on Wheels.
5. 13OARD UPDATES. None.
6. AJOURNMENT.
Member Trauger moved for adjournment. Seconded by Member Putz.
Chair Rice adjourned the meeting at 9:.19 -p.m.
