A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF LONGWOOID, FLORIDA, ENDORSING THE WEIKIVA
WILD AND SCENIC RIVER SYSTEM COMPREHENSIVE
MANAGEMENT PLAN; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS AND
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Wekiva River System, which includes the segments of the
Wekiva River, Wekiva Springs Run, Rock Springs Run, and Black Water Creek
in the State of Florida, has-been designated as a component of the nation wild and
scenic rivers system on October 13, 2000 by the United States Congress; and
WHEREAS, the Longwood City Commission recognizes that :the Wekiva Wild
and Scenic River System provides outstanding resource values including water
quality, watershed hydrology, unique wildlife species and natural communities,
recreational opportunities, a rich historical and cultural landscape and a watershed.
ecosystem that are important for the well-being and quality of life of -Seminole
County; and
WHEREAS, the Longwood City Commission recognizes the Wekiva Wild and
Scenic River System Management Plan (that has been developed in partnership
with local communities, their elected officials and state agencies, local
environmental organizations and the National Park Service which will be
implemented with these partners) will provide an important mechanism to protect
and enhance the outstanding resource values of the Wekiva Wild and Scenic
River System; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City
of Longwood, Florida, as follows:
Section I. The Longwood City Commission endorses the purpose, goals,
objectives and actions of the Wekiva Wild and Scenic River System Management
Plan, continue being a partner and participant in the implementation of the
Wekiva Wild and Scenic River System Management Plan and support
implementing the Wekiva Wild and Scenic River System Management Plan to the
best of its abilities.
Section II. Conflicts. Any resolutions or policies in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
Section III: This Resolution shall become effective immediatelyupon adoption.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT (RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City
of Longwood, Florida in Seminole County, hereby declares its support of the
Wekiva Wild and Scenic River System Comprehensive Management Plan.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 20 DAY OF MAY A.D., 2012.
