Resolution 13-1331RESOLUTION NO.13-1331 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING WORKSHOPS OF CITY OF LONGWOOD PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD TO COMMENCE AT 6:00 P.M.; PROVIDING FOR REVIEW, CONFLICTS AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. ' WHEREAS, Section 2-313, Longwood City Code provides that all board and committee meetings shall be called to order at 7:00 p.m.; and WHEREAS, the Chair of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (sometimes herein the "Board") desires to hold a workshop of the Board to start at 6:00 p.m. the same night as the Board's regular meeting in June 2013; WHEREAS, at the proposed workshop of the Board, the Board should not take any vote, or make any recommendations to the City Commission, but should reserve such actions, if any, to be conducted during the Board's meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to accommodate the proposed workshop and other workshops of the Board starting at 6:00 p.m. and determines that such request meets the spirit and intent of the Longwood City Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Longwood, Florida, as follows: Section I. Authorization. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is authorized to commence at 6:00 p.m. a workshop where no votes are to be taken and no recommendations to the City Commission are made, provided that such workshops are properly noticed, minutes taken and the public is provided access. Section II. Review. The City Administrator is directed to perform a review of the Chapter 2, Article VI, Longwood City Code to determine whether revisions should be made to the code to allow more flexibility in commencement times for all City board and committee meetings, special meetings and workshops, and to make other such recommendations to the City Commission as the City Administrator may suggest. Section III. Conflicts. This resolution shall control in the event of a conflict with other resolutions or policies in conflict herewith. Section IV. Effective Date.
