LOCATION: Longwood Commission Chamber 175 West Warren Avenue Longwood, FL 32750 Minutes Present: Lori Rice, Chair Nikki Bright, Vice Chair Judi Coad, Member Cathy Ross, Member Dave Putz, Member Terry Peterson, Member Chris Capizzi, Leisure Services Director Karen Behling, Recording Secretary Absent: Steven Croston, Member 1) CALL TO ORDER — Chair Rice called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. 2) PUBLIC INPUT —None 3) STAFF REPORT Mr. Capizzi stated Babe Ruth Opening Day for Spring Ball was held on Saturday, March 1, 2014. Mr. Capizzi stated the next Car Show will be held on March 8, 2014 from 5 p.m., until 8 p.m. in the Longwood Historic District. Mr. Capizzi staged the senior movie will be held in the Longwood Community Building on Wednesday March 19, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. The movie will be "Charade". Mr. Capizzi stated that Summer Camp registration will. begin on April 1, 2014 for City Residents and April 8t" for Non -Residents. Mr. Capizzi stated that the Easter Egg :Hunt and Bunny Breakfast: is scheduled for April 1.9, 2014. Member Putz asked about the Five set of plans for Reiter Park that was referred about on the news. Mr. Capizzi stated the report was an error on the reporter's part Mr. Capizzi_is aware of several plans. Member Putz asked about the meeting 1:or Reiter Park, if this is needed because of the grant. Mr. Capizzi stated the workshop is being held so the public can have input and can come to speak because of the several phases of the project that in, the original scope were to be done all at. once. Mr. Capizzi stated the "Senator" tree was added to the Park, the fishing dock has been added, and the hill was not part of the project. All these items have been added. Chair Rice asked when the meeting was scheduled. Mr. Capizzi stated the date has not been schedule yet. Chair Rice asked. about the exercise equipment :for Reiter Park. Mr. Capizzi stated we do :have the exercise equipment some of the pieces might be able to be used, others have internal rust which can make the installation process more difficult. Mr. Capizzi stated the warranty of this exercise equipment is completely void, so putting this equipment at :Reiter Park might not be the best idea. But Mr. Capizzi stated he has good news, the City of Longwood has an outstanding balance to Rep Services of $50,000 from carpet squares that were never installed.. Mr. Capizzi stated maybe we could use this money to purchase ;new equipment for Reiter Park, and install the old exercise equipment at another park.. The new exercise equipment would have complete warranties and we would have enough money to install equipment in all six areas at. Reiter Park. .Member Coad asked about reservations for the Bunny Breakfast and will this be on the rvebsite and placed on the water bill. Mr. Capizzi stated yes. Reservations for the breakfast will be thru Showtix. Chair Rice asked about an update on lights in the Historic District. Mr. Capizzi said there ;is really no update at this time. The price the City received to instal.[ lights is too :high. We are looking into exchanging services with Lyman High School, to use their pool in exchange for the old lights from Candyland Park. We are also looking to using the outside volleyball courts or even using the pool to have community time slots for the citizens. 4) ACTIONS ITEMS. A. APPROVE MINUTES FROM F'EBRUARY 7, 2014 REGULAR MEETING. Chair Rice motioned to approve minutes with the changes stated. by Menhber Coad from February 7, 2014, seconded by Member Peterson. Passed 6-0-1 B. UPDATE ON FASTER EGG IJUNT. This was discussed during Mr. Capizzi report. Member Bright asked if .Mr. Capizzi has looked into QR codes to be placed on the advertisement. Mr. Capizzi stated not yet, but will look into adding them. Member Bright stated she will look into creating a QR code for Leisure Services. C. DISCUSSION OF CHILI COOK OFF. Chair Rice confirmed the date as the second Saturday in November for the next Chili Cook -Off along with the Car Show. Chair Rice asked if Don the DJ has been requested to set up early for this event. Mr. Capizzi will make this request. Vice Chair Bright will get: the timeline together to discuss in April, during the next meeting. D. UPDATE ON BOARD MEMBER PROJECTS. Member Ross —no report Member Rice asked about the lights at the Dog Park being out. Mr_ Capizzi stated a request has been done to have the lights looked at. Member Rice stated for National Night Out to contact clubs to set up to give kids the chance to learn sometliing else. Member Bright will add engraving on the wood planks on the pier, to her project. Member Peterson — no report Member Coad stated that the Board added the Easter Event to the project list and we also need to add National Night out to the project list. Member Putz stated Reiter Park is used a lot with model airplanes and kids playing. He also stated the car charger was being used at the Fire Station next to the Park. He has also seen people on the Fish pier. 5) AJOURNMENT. — 8:28 P.M.
