A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA,
HONORING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF DR. E. ANN MCGEE
WHEREAS, Dr. E. Ann McGee earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and a Master of Arts in
Communication from Florida State University and was conferred Doctor of Education degree in Higher
Education Administration by Nova Southeastern University; and
WHEREAS, Dr. McGee became President of Seminole State College in 1996 and is only the
second President in the College's 52-year history; and
WHEREAS, under Dr. McGee's leadership, Seminole State College has grown from a single -
campus community college to a state college institution with four campuses; and
WHEREAS, enrollment at Seminole State College has grown to over 30,000 students, making
the Seminole State the seventh (71h) largest employer in Seminole County and the ninth (91) largest of the
28 colleges in the Florida College System; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure with Seminole State College, Dr. McGee has steadily increased
the number and variety of degrees and programs offered at Seminole State to over 200; and
WHEREAS, the work she has done and the lives of so many she has touched serves as a lasting
legacy for which Seminole County and this region owes her a debt of gratitude;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Longwood Commissioners does
hereby recognize her life's work and the many contributions of Dr. E. Ann McGee to Seminole State
College and the citizens of Longwood.
PASSED AND RESOLVED this 71 day of May, 2018.
