AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA,
EXTENDING THE WASTE PRO OF FLORIDA, INC.
RESIDENTIAL SOLID WASTE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION SERVICES
CONTRACT AND FRANCHISE FOR AN ADDITIONAL FOUR YEAR
PERIOD TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2025; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS,
SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 10 of the Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Services Contract, as
amended ("Contract") between the Cityof Longwood and Waste Pro of Florida, Inc. provides for
a process for the City to consider contract extensions upon request; and
WHEREAS, Waste Pro of Florida, Inc. has requested a four-year extension to its contract and
franchise for residential solid waste and recycling collection services to September 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to grant a four-year extension to the Contract and franchise
set forth in this Ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. EXTENSION. The Waste Pro of Florida, Inc. franchise for residential solid
waste and recycling collection services pursuant to the terms and conditions of the Solid Waste
and Recycling Collection Services Contract between the City of Longwood and Waste Pro of
Florida, Inc. is hereby extended four (4) years running from October 1, 2021, to September 30,
2025.
SECTION 2. CONFLICTS. This Ordinance shall control in the event of a conflict with
any other ordinance or resolution of the City.
SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, word
or provision of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court
of competent jurisdiction, whether for substantive, procedural, or any other reason, such
portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision, and such holding shall
not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall become effective upon its
adoption.
