AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING LONGWOOD CITY CODE, CHAPTER 2 ADMINISTRATION,
ARTICLE II MAYOR AND COMMISSION, SECTION 2-33 BENEFITS;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS,CODIFICATION, SEVERABILITY, AND AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,the City of Longwood is vested with home rule authority pursuant to Article
VII, Section 2 of the Constitution of the State of Florida and Chapter 166, Florida Statutes,to
enact ordinances; and
WHEREAS, the City of Longwood has home rule authority to enact uniform benefits for
commissioners and employees; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission finds it in the best interest of the City to amend the Code
of Ordinances to provide city commissioners with the same benefits, assurances, and safeguards
as its employees; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
LONGWOOD,FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. RECITALS. The above recitals are incorporated herein by this reference and
constitute legislative findings of the City Commission.
SECTION 2. ADOPTION. Chapter 2, Article II, Section 2-33 of the Longwood City Code
shall be amended as follows (Words that are s*."� are deletions; words that are
underlined are additions; Articles, Sections, Subsections and Provisions not referenced in this
ordinance are not modified):

ARTICLE II. MAYOR AND COMMISSION
Sec. 2-33. Benefits.
Subject to annual budget appropriations,Tthe city commission members may participate
in group insurance policies sponsored by the city,at their own cxpcn ^,a+ -The city
commission members may enroll in any other programs as may be offered to city employees
from time to time through payroll deduction.
SECTION 3 . CONFLICTS. This Ordinance shall control in the event of a conflict with any

other ordinance or resolution of the City.
SECTION 4. CODIFICATION. Section 1 of this Ordinance shall be codified; that such
sections may be renumbered or relettered to accomplish the intent of this Ordinance.
Grammatical, typographical and similar or like errors may be corrected, and additions,
alterations, and omissions not affecting the construction or meaning of this ordinance and the
City Code may be freely made.
SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, word,
or provision of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court
of competent jurisdiction, whether for substantive, procedural, or any other reason, such
portion shall be deemed a separate,distinct and independent provision,and such holding shall
not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance.
SECTION 6. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall become effective October 1, 2022.

SECOND READING: THIS 19th DAY OF September, A.D., 2022.
